Photosynthetic and oxidation-reduction proteins from scratch

Peter Leslie Dutton

Biology offers a rich source of inspiration for any intensions to assemble catalytic function in synthetic proteins engineered and constructed from scratch. Our own research intensions combine two approaches. The first aims to reveal engineering and structural principles on which stand impressive energy conversion and chemical transformations of natural oxidoreductases. The second endeavors to apply these principles to reproduce related functions in proteins built from scratch.
