Synthetic Biology for Learning and Doing

A Franco-American Conference

May 3-4, 2011, French National Assembly, Paris, France

A Franco-American Symposium on Synthetic Biology will be hosted on May 3-4, 2011 by the French National Assembly (lower House of Parliament), under the auspices of the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in United States and the French Parliamentary Office for Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Options (OPECST). The event aims to provide insights on the most recent advances in scientific and governance issues in synthetic biology, and to facilitate scientific collaborations across the Atlantic Ocean.

The symposium will bring together the leading experts in the field (see Speakers section). The two-day event will consist of scientific talks followed by two round-tables focused on industrial and societal challenges (see Agenda). The round-tables will take place in the National Assembly's auditorium and will be in the form of a public hearing, to allow for interactions with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Each session is construed so as to allow significant time for discussion and exchanges.

Please note that the symposium will be performed in English. The public audition will be performed in French with simultaneous translation available.

Registration for this event is now closed.

Live video transmission of the public hearing on May 4th afternoon will be available on the OPECST website.

Video on demand will also be available here.
